Quartet of Chamber of Commerce Events Upcoming

With winter soon to be a distant memory, the Chemainus + Chamber of Commerce has four important dates for you to keep in mind this spring.

On Tuesday, March 25 the Chamber will hold its 2025 Annual General Meeting at the Mount Brenton Pub at Mount Brenton Golf Course on Henry Road. The meeting starts at 5:30 and wraps up at 7:00 p.m.

The Mount Brenton Pub will be the location of the Chamber’s AGM.

This is a free event, and guests are welcome to join. Pre-registration is required. You must be a member in good standing to vote. This is a great opportunity to network with members of the business community.

Appetizers, coffee and tea are included, and the Pub’s regular menu and bar service are also available for purchase.

North Cowichan Mayor Rob Douglas will be the guest speaker.

Contact Melody at chamber@chemainus.bc.ca or 250-737-3370 if you would like to attend the AGM.

On Thursday, March 13, the Chemainus Valley Museum will host a Mix + Mingle for Chemainus business people. The event that includes coffee, tea, and snacks runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Museum in Waterwheel Park.

RSVP to Ron at visitorcentre@chemanus.bc.ca by March 10 to confirm your attendance.

Saturday, April 12 will be a big Day in Chemainus with two events scheduled.

The Chemainus Museum is hosting a Mix + Mingle on March 13.

Our Chemainus – A Celebration will take place in the banquet room at St. Michael’s Church in downtown Chemainus.

“We want to highlight Chemainus as a great place to live, work and play,” says Chamber director, Roy Summerhayes, who is the organizer of the second event of this type to be held in Chemainus.

“We’ll be promoting the many organizations, groups, and businesses that form the foundation of who we are as a town,” he adds.

Our Chemainus – A Celebration, runs from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“We’re inviting all businesses and organizations operating in the Chemainus + District Chamber of Commerce area to join us for this Celebration of Chemainus,” Summerhayes says.

This is a free event, no charge for exhibitors and no admission charge.

For more information, contact Director Roy Summerhayes at 250-246-1227 or seniors101@shaw.ca.

The Chamber will be holding a ‘Boot Sale’ in Waterwheel parking lot on Willow Street.

On the heels of the first Boot Sale held a year ago, Chamber manager Melody Smythies is asking vendors to register at chamber@chemainus.bc.ca or 250-737-3370.

And don’t worry, you won’t be selling the family’s footwear.

A Boot Sale, also known as a car boot sale, is a popular event in the UK where individuals gather to sell a variety of second-hand goods from the trunks (boots) of their cars,” explains Smythies.

“It’s similar to a garage sale, but like ours, it takes place in an open area like a parking lot rather than at someone’s home.”
