Fresh off a dismal run for the mayor’s job in Ladysmith, Raymon Farmere is taking a run at a seat on North Cowichan council.
Farmere, who listed his residential address as Duncan on the nomination papers that were filed on Thursday, garnered six votes in the Ladysmith election held March 1.

In an interview with Take Five magazine prior to the election, Farmere said he was a computer technician and English as a Second Language Instructor. He told the magazine he was currently living in Cowichan Bay but lived in Ladysmith from 2016 to 2017.
North Cowichan is holding a by-election to replace Debra Toporowski who was elected to the provincial legislature in last October’s provincial election. The by-election will be held on April 12.
Farmere joins four other candidates in the race: Becky Hogg, Johanne Kemmler, Jonna Lord and David Bellis
Two advance voting opportunities will take place on April 2 and April 8 at the North Cowichan Municipal Hall.
Chemainus voters will vote at the Fire Hall on April 12.
