Another fun weekend is shaping up in Chemainus with several events happening.
Hot on the heels of the very successful Car Boot Sale held two weeks ago, the Chemainus + District Chamber of Commerce is holding another Boot event Saturday in Waterwheel Park. There aren’t likely to be too many boots for sale, but shoppers will find an eclectic array of second-hand treasures.
The sale begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m.
Nothing says spring like baseball and this weekend will see the return of the East Vancouver Island Baseball League to Chemainus.
Opening day is Saturday, April 26 with two games. At noon, Stuart Channel Blue Heron will play the Mt. Sicker Spirits. Yellow Point Vultures will take on the Diamond Railmen with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
The East Vancouver Island Baseball League was founded in 2022
“Our group was founded with a passion for baseball and a love for building community through sport,” the league’s website says.
Comprised of four teams – Yellowpoint Vultures, Diamond Railmen, Mount Sicker Spirits, and Stuart Channel Blue Herons – we are a dedicated and fun group of adults over the age of 30 who come together to play the game we love for recreation.”
Also on Saturday, the Chemainus Saturday Market, organized by Joyce Cloakey, will be open for business. As well as Joyce’s tasty selection of baking and goodies, there will be coffee and tea, a soup and sandwich special for $12 and lots more.
The Saturday Market is held in the lower level of the Chemainus United Church on Willow Street.
