Wounded Warrior Run in Chemainus on Saturday

The Wounded Warrior Run BC 2005 will arrive in Chemainus on Saturday, March 1 at about 12:45 p.m.

Folks are invited to come to the Chemainus Legion to meet the runners and encourage them in their 800 km run in support of veterans, first responders and their families. It’s an opportunity to sit down for lunch with the eight runners who will hit the road again at 2 p.m.

The Wounded Warrior Run is an extraordinary journey across Vancouver Island connecting communities to support and raise awareness of the crucial mental health programs provided by Wounded Warriors Canada.

The goal this year is to raise $250,000 with 100 per cent of the funds donated from Vancouver Island staying on the Island.

“In fact, any money donated on the Island actually comes back tenfold from the rest of Canada to provide life changing programs on the Island,” organizers say.

The eight-day run began in Port Hardy and will wrap up in Victoria on Sunday, March 2.
