Warmland Looking to Expand Cannabis Operations to Chemainus

A Cowichan Valley cannabis entrepreneur is hoping to set up shop in Chemainus.

Chris Clay, owner of Warmland Cannabis Centre’s three locations in the region, has asked North Cowichan to rezone 3055 Oak Street (Chemainus Village Square Shopping Centre) to allow a licensed cannabis retail store.

He is holding a community information meeting on April 3 and is inviting residents and property owners in the area to join a Zoom meeting.

Clay says he will provide information about his plans for the store and will answer any questions. He says feedback from the Zoom meeting will be forwarded to the Municipality as part of the process.

The information session is not a municipal public hearing. North Cowichan will hold a public hearing for the proposed rezoning later as the application process moves along.

More information on the public information meeting will be published on chemainus.com in the coming week.
