The former Russell Farm Market and Garden centre is re-opening today with a new name and new owners.

Valley Roots Farm Market & Garden Centre, owned by Jordan and Bri Dirom, will open its doors after being closed for a month for renovations. The new owners say there is still lots of work to do but the doors will be open March 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Diroms bought the business and property from France Bournazel earlier this year after many decades of ownership by the Stewart family. Jordan and Bri have deep roots in the Valley dating back 130 years. They are farmers and have been growing produce that will be carried at the Market.
In a letter to the community, Bournazel said she worked hard to carry on the tradition of the business after the death of Russell Stewart in 2017. There were challenges along the way, including spring flooding but she managed to keep the doors open and put the property up for sale two years ago.
“Over the past two years we started the long and arduous task to find the right owners for the farm and the market that would carry on and bring new life into it,” Bournazel said. “We are happy to announce that it’s finally happened.”
Valley Roots Farm Market & Garden Centre is located on the Trans-Canada Highway at the Mount Sicker intersection south of Chemainus.
