After a 40-year career in the grocery industry, Paul McGregor feels driven to start a new career.
The former manager of the Chemainus Country Grocer store, McGregor is launching his new business, Rise and Shine Companionship Care. He’ll be available to drive people to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and outings of all types.
“I had some good job offers after I left Country Grocer,” McGregor acknowledges. “But I didn’t want to get back into retail.
“I’m excited to learn all these new things and help people.”
McGregor was encouraged by his friends Ed and Cheryl Bosch who have been operating a similar type of business successfully for several years.
“They said I was so good with elderly people and all people, and this was always in the back of my mind,” McGregor says.
“Ed took me around to some homes and introduced me to people and there is such a need for this type of service.”
Initially, McGregor will serve the Chemainus, Ladysmith and Cowichan Valley region, taking people to the airport, ferries and other destinations.
“To start I’ll be available Monday to Friday, and we’ll see where it goes.”
McGregor says his van is ready to go and he expects the insurance hoops to be negotiated by early next week and he’ll be up and running.
